Some of you might have been approached by Dionne,Lyndsay or Juan on the night of our reunion. But how many of you actually have setup an interview with them.  I  was called twice, but at the moment my schedule was not allowing me to meet with them. Until today(July 26th) when I met with Lyndsay for a one on one interview. She was kind enough to make it convenient for me to meet her at a library not too far from my home.
The whole interview took about an hour, but I believe I probably could have kept on talking. The interview at no moment made me feel uncomfortable , it did however make me aware of how those high school days impacted my life.  I don't think that any of us realized at the moment , that we were living an experience that not many could live. All we have to do is remember our reunion to see how that was a reflection of who we were in high school-  A group of people of many colors  & backgrounds-but with the same need. The need to learn, socialize and ultimately fit in. Please consider  this opportunity to voice your experience on the subject. Dionne's email and number are at the bottom of her message.

My name is Dionne Danns and I am conducting research on school desegregation
in Chicago. I received your name and e-mail address from the Bogan class reunion website. I am an assistant professor at Indiana University's School of Education. This study is part of a book I am doing on the history of school desegregation in Chicago. It will examine participants who attended, taught or administered at desegregated Chicago high schools including Bogan, Sullivan, Von Steuben, Senn, Lane Technical, Taft and Whitney Young, Roosevelt and Schruz).

I am interested in talking to you and other Bogan alumni to learn about your experiences participating in a desegregated school and how that experience has impacted you. I will be attending your class reunion with some research assistants to be able to recruit people for interviews for this study.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me .

This is an opportunity for Bogan alumni to be a part of history as not many studies have been done on the experiences of students in desegregated schools. We will not badger alumni or try to get in the way of their fun. We just would like an opportunity to get information to those who would be interested in participating in this study.
